How To Please Absolutely Everyone!

leander

We work in a customer service industry. It is very important to be able to please your clients.  This little story will tell you can absolutely please everyone

************************************************************************************

An old man, a boy & a donkey were going to town.

The boy rode on the donkey & the old man walked.

As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding.

The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.

Then, later, they passed some people who remarked, "What a shame, he makes that little boy walk."

So they then decided they'd both walk!  Soon they passed some more people who thought

They were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride.

So, they both rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey.

The boy and man figured they were probably right, so they decide to carry the donkey.

As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal, and he fell into the river and drowned.

 The moral of the story?

If you try to please everyone,

 You might as well..

 Kiss your ass goodbye!

In other words, you can't please everyone.  Do your best at all times and that is all that you can do.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition - Blessing or Curse?

Every Sunday evening, you can find me watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition.  Each week some deserving family receives a new or newly renovated home.  I have been known to shed a tear or two when the bus driver moves that bus.

A few weeks ago while I was perusing the Asbury Park Press, I came across a story titled is 'Extreme Makeover' house for sale?  The story was about the Marrero family in Pennsauken, NJ.  The family received a brand new 3,000 square foot home that was built on donated land.  The family also received $60,000 in cash to help with uitlities and other bills.

It appears that the house which is almost 3 times the size of the old house is an energy hog.  The father still is on a fixed income.  So once the bus has moved on out of the state, the recipients were left with huge tax & utility bills.  If a family could not afford to maintain a 1,000 square foot home how do you expect them to  maintain a 3,000 square foot home?

As a result, a number of the recipients of these donated homes have considered selling.  Pennsauken, Philadelphia, Atlanta and there may be others.  ABC gets great ratings and we get to feel good for one hour per week.  But are we really helping the families?  Is this show a blessing or a curse?

Should The Constitution Be Repealed?

This morning while I was reading the local paper, I came across yet another story dealing with eminent domain.    The town in question claims that the oceanfront property is in a blighted area and the town needs the revenue that would be generated by taking the land and giving/selling it to a developer.

I know the issue of eminent domain has been discussed many times.  I often think back to the intent of our founding fathers when I take a stand on a Constitutional issue.  In this case, I refer to Article IV of the constitution.

Article IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The Constitution was written by a people seeking to start a new country free from the oppression of their mother country.  Articles IV speaks about the right of home/landowners to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.  The words are there...."the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, effects against unreasonable searches and seizures".  In my humble opinion, exercising the right of eminent domain is an unreasonable siezure.  I may not like the raggedy oceanfront shack that your great grandfather built in 1875, but my country was built on the premise that you have the right to live in that home no matter what I think about it.  You have the right to live there even if your neighbors are building multi-million dollar mansions.  Our country was built on principles of freedom.

Maybe we should just repeal the constitution and start all over again. What do you think?

Blogging: Is It Really All About Points??

Recently I posted a recipe on my blog.  It was a recipe that I created and really enjoy and I figured that I would share it with the readers of my blog.  We all veer off topic every once in awhile.  Later when I checked my points summary, I noticed that the points had been removed and I was pointed towards a policy.  When I tried to find out what policy I violated, I could not get to the policy.  Yesterday, I posted a happy mothers day message to the ladies in the active rain community who are mothers.   My points summary said tha I received no points because my message was under 50 words.

So I ask  the question IS BLOGGING ALL ABOUT POINTS?  I say no.  I will continue to share with my readers things that I find of interest....points or no points.

What do you think?
