OOPS....Did I Do THAT??

OOPS

Good Morning,

Let me tell y'all how my day started yesterday.  I was driving through a parking lot, when a car ahead of me started to drive across my path.  I took my eye off the road for a split second to see what the other driver was doing.  When I turned back around, the following happened in slow motion......

Ladi...da...I am my regular happy go lucky self........."that kinda looks like a pole........no.......why would a pole be in the middle of the parking lot....it looks like that pole which is not supposed to be in the middle of the parking lot is head straight towards me...........maybe i should take some evasive action........where did that pole come from?......I think now would be a good time to BRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAKE;..........CRASH.

This all happened in about 1/2 second.  As it turned out, this light pole was the only one in the parking lot that was not lit. Geeez...what a way to start the day.

What's the lesson in all of this......

LIFE IS SHORT, BE HAPPY

No matter what, life goes on.  There was a time in my life when I would still be upset at myself, the management company, the mall...everyone involved.  I would have lost sleep, not been able to eat, etc.  For what?  So what did I do?  Late in the afternoon, I submitted a claim online with the insurance company.  Called my by buddy Craig Dennin at Moorestown Autobody (business referral post to follow), had enterprise drop off a rental car (paid for by the insurance company) and I continue on with life.

Was I upset?  YES.  Did I get over it? YES.  I am pissed at myself, YES.  But I will pay the insurance deductible and all will be well with my car. I am thankful that I or no one got hurt.  I am thankful that I am able to pay the deductible.  There are more important things in life to me.  When I got home later that night, my wife was well and glad to see me.  When I call my daughters, they are well and glad to hear from me.  I tell people all the time

"stuff can be fixed or replaced"

Everyone have a GREAT day and

Make This Your Best Year Ever....I know I will

Great attitude Leander. It sucks, but in the big picture it's not such a big deal.

LOVE your 2009 blog.

Leander, you are so right, there was so much to be grateful for and you chose to look at those things instead of the negative...  Keep up the good thoughts!

Oh my Leander, I hate it when stuff like that happens.  Good thing you are a happy guy and that you and no one else was hurt.  Car looks like it needs a little help though. Does make for good story telling ! ~ Evelyn

It is an amazing day when you can take the things life throws at you and still wear a smile on your face and happiness in your heart. Great attitude to have after your mishap. Thankfully you were not injured. Hakuna Matata!

Thanks for the post! I completely agree that stuff can be fixed or replaced, but a lot of time we don't have that positive attitude.

Lenader, the second that you put everything in perspective, the second it all makes sense and then the important things in life are brought to the fore. Sorry about the mishap though. Glad you are okay

Right on - stuff is still just stuff. We stress over the most ridiculous stuff sometimes. And even when it is bigger like this, its still just stuff.
